GCSC to Hold Dedication Ceremony for the Charles Hilton Center for Advanced Technology and Hospitality Management

Gulf Coast State College will hold a dedication ceremony for the “Charles Hilton Center for Advanced Technology and Hospitality Management” on Thursday, July 28. The College’s Advanced Technology Center, currently referred to on campus as the “ATC”, will be dedicated to and renamed for one of Panama City Beach’s most dynamic and innovative community leaders – Mr. Charlie Hilton.

In May of this year, Gulf Coast State College and the GCSC Foundation received a generous gift of $2,500,000 from Mr. Hilton’s daughter, Julie Hilton – the largest gift in the history of both the College and the Foundation. In previous months, GCSC and the Foundation had been working closely with Ms. Hilton, finding that they shared a vision that would serve the needs of the hospitality and tourism workforce in the area. Ms. Hilton’s philanthropy, resulted in a partnership to develop and grow tourism-related training programs to advance emerging industry leaders of the region.

Dr. Sean Preston, Executive Director of the GCSC Foundation states, “It was a joy to work with Julie on this project.  She challenged us to view hospitality management in a new and exciting way, and has expertly positioned the College to meet the needs of a growing workforce. The hallmark of a benefactor is to leave something better than you found it, and that is certainly the case with Julie.”
