City of Panama City Beach issued the following announcement on January 26.
Warm weather will be here before you know it and it's a great time to think about a summer job. What could be more fun and rewarding than working on the World’s Most Beautiful Beaches, keeping locals and visitors safe, and meeting people from across the U.S!
The Beach Safety Division of Panama City Beach Fire Rescue is hiring for 16 seasonal open water lifeguards. The pay is $15 per hour, and includes free training and certification, uniforms and rescue gear.
“This job is ideal for graduating high school seniors and college students either coming home to Bay County for the summer or those from somewhere else looking for a summer adventure,” said Beach Safety Director Wil Spivey.
“We would love to have some former or current swim team members. They would come to us with some of the training and knowledge necessary for this job.”
Why work as a summer lifeguard? Spivey said there are three good reasons:
- Get paid to work out and stay in shape in a beautiful environment.
- Feel the pride of a rewarding job, knowing you are making a difference.
- Acquire the knowledge to save lives which is a life skill.
Tryouts will be held in the heated pool at the Frank Brown Park Aquatic Center at 10 a.m. on three upcoming Saturdays – Feb. 5, Feb. 19 and March 5.
If interested, email Spivey at wil.spivey@pcbfl.gov to line up a tryout/interview.
