If you think you might be suffering from sinus headaches, Gulf Coast Breathe Free Sinus & Allergy Centers' Dr. Matthew Blair could be able to offer a solution and relief.
Sinuses, which often swell due to inflammation, can be defined as the air-filled spaces inside the forehead, cheekbones and behind the bridge of the nose, according to WebMD. The buildup in pressure causes pain, similar to that of a headache.
“Sinus headaches are just headaches… and we treat those the same ways we treat the sinus conditions, whether it's with medications or in-office procedures,” Blair told the Panama City Reporter.

Facial pain is a common complaint with concerns of sinus disease, Blair added, saying that one aspect of his job is to rule out the sinuses as a problem.
“Severe sinus disease usually causes a lot of facial pain, usually in the upper teeth,” Blair said. “The reason being is that the molar actually sits on the floor of the sinuses underneath the eyes, on the maxillary sinuses, and also the nerves that give sensation to the face of the sinuses, giving sensation to your teeth.”
When a patient comes in with these symptoms, Blair said he looks for other nasal symptoms, including discolored nasal discharge, trouble breathing, stuffiness and lasting pain.
“We really determine, is your pain coming from your sinuses? If it is, we'll definitely treat it and fix it,” Blair said.
According to WebMD, sinus headaches often lead to a deep and constant pain in a patient's cheekbones, forehead or bridge of the nose. It sometimes increases in strength when the head is suddenly moved or strained. Other sinus symptoms, including a runny nose, fullness in the ears, facial swelling and a fever may also be present along with the headache.
To treat an infection and relieve symptoms, WebMD suggests antibiotics, as well as antihistamines or nasal decongestants, which can be used for up to three days. It is recommended to touch base with a medical professional for corticosteroids to ease inflammation or if medication is used for a prolonged period of time.
