Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce: Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart Announces New COVID Rapid Testing Options

Vaccine

Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on August 19.

Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart announces they are increasing the number of sites offering rapid COVID testing at multiple locations in Bay County. Within the next week, Ascension Medical Group will begin offering tests in the following primary care offices:

● Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart Bay Family Medicine at Northside

● Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart Bay Family Medicine at Norcross

● Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart at Lynn Haven

● Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart Pediatrics at Panama City

The testing is an Abbott ID Now, Rapid COVID test. This point-of-care test can provide test results in 15 minutes or less. The test is a non-invasive nasal swab that is performed in the primary care doctors’ offices. Justin Labrato, Chief Operating Officer of Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart, says early detection can accelerate care for newly diagnosed patients, reduce transmission of the virus and help people get on the road to recovery.

“The rise of COVID-19 cases as a result of the Delta variant is a matter we are watching closely,” said Labrato. “Having the ability to test patients that are experiencing symptoms of COVID in more places means they will receive care sooner and potentially get better faster.”

Testing is available to all patients, but the patient must be seen by a doctor prior to receiving the test. Testing capabilities are expected to be available at all AMG primary care offices in Bay County within the next week.
