Bay County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on August 2.

Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart announces they are now offering the Pfizer vaccine to pediatric patients at Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart Pediatrics at Panama City and Ascension Sacred Heart Pediatric Care Center at Gulf Breeze. The Pfizer vaccine is the only vaccine that is currently approved by the Food and Drug Administration for emergency use in children 12 years of age and older.

“Now more than ever, is the best time to get your children vaccinated,” says Dr. Jacqueline Garavito, Pediatrician at Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart Pediatrics at Panama City. “This approved vaccine is safe and effective. Everyone in our community plays a critical role in keeping us safe from this virus. The most effective way we can protect ourselves and each other right now is by getting vaccinated and encouraging our friends and family to do so also.”

While no vaccine is 100 percent effective, the benefits of vaccinations far outweigh any identified risks or side effects. Anyone over the age of 12 is able to receive the vaccination, and you do not have to be an established patient. Please note that a parent or guardian must accompany persons under 18 to give consent.

Appointments are required for the vaccination. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, visit GetSacredHeartCare.com or call (850) 804-3870.
