Bay County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement.
On August 9, 2021, local charity organization Elevate Bay will visit the Central Panhandle Association of REALTORS® to welcome and educate new volunteers on the meaningful and selfless work they do to help Bay District School students. They are holding an orientation, and volunteer training session in the CPAR Classroom from 11:30 AM to 1 PM to introduce their volunteer opportunities for the 2021-2022 school year.
Elevate Bay exists to support and encourage the at-risk children of Bay District Schools. They focus on students with instability and try to bring good examples and inspiration into their paths. They operate a Mentor program where adults can volunteer in several different ways to become a part of a student’s recovery. They also operate a meal program that sends home around 1,600 weekend food bags home with children who would not otherwise have the resource.
Volunteers for the programs are only expected to contribute about one hour of their time each month to mentor a child. It is a minimal commitment that provides an immeasurable positive impact on the children of our community. Following Hurricane Michael, the organization has experienced a significant drop in Mentor participation and seeks to build its Mentor base back up to pre-storm levels and beyond. This Orientation and Training is free and open to the public. Lunch will be provided to attendees. RSVP is required at: https://www.cpar.us/ElevateBay
