Dr. Neal Dunn, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 2nd district, has recently shared several insights and celebrations through his social media posts. His statements reflect on international relations, personal military service, and local achievements.
On June 13, Dr. Dunn expressed concerns about Iran’s activities in the global arena. He stated, “Iran is the biggest state sponsor of terrorism, and has pursued nuclear ambitions for far too long. Israel has the right to defend itself.” This remark underscores his stance on foreign policy issues related to Middle Eastern geopolitics.
Celebrating a significant milestone for the U.S. Army on June 14, Dr. Dunn commemorated its 250th anniversary by sharing personal reflections from his own military service. He tweeted, “Today, we celebrate the @USArmy’s 250th birthday! I spent more than a decade serving our country in the Army… It was an privilege to”. His remarks highlight both his respect for the institution and pride in having served as part of it.
On June 16, Dr. Dunn acknowledged a young artist’s achievement from his district. He congratulated Kennedy Newsome from Marianna High School for winning District Two’s Congressional Art Competition with these words: “Congrats to Kennedy Newsome of Marianna High School for winning District Two’s Congressional Art Competition! It was a privilege to host you in Washington…” The recognition includes having Newsome’s artwork displayed at the Capitol center for Florida over the next year.
Neal Dunn has been serving in Congress since replacing Gwen Graham in 2017 after previously holding office in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Boston in 1953 and now residing in Panama City, he holds a BS degree from Washington and Lee University.
