Dr. Neal Dunn, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 2nd district, has recently addressed several issues via his social media platform. Dunn, who succeeded Gwen Graham in 2017 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives, discussed topics ranging from healthcare initiatives to educational achievements within his district.
On May 13, Dr. Dunn shared his efforts to support families facing financial challenges due to congenital anomalies like cleft palates. He stated that “Many families with children who are born with congenital anomalies like a cleft palate struggle with significant financial barriers to accessing the treatment their child needs.” To address this issue, he introduced the Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act aimed at alleviating these financial burdens.
Later that day, Dr. Dunn commented on Medicaid’s current status and its future prospects under Democratic policies. He expressed concerns by saying “Medicaid is a vital lifeline for our nation’s most vulnerable. Unfortunately, Democrats have put the program’s future into jeopardy by allowing able-bodied adults without dependents, illegal immigrants, and deceased beneficiaries to remain on Medicaid rolls.” Dr. Dunn emphasized his stance on maintaining Medicaid’s integrity as a critical resource.
On May 14, Dr. Dunn highlighted an educational achievement within his district involving Ms. Katy Jo Harrison being recognized as a top finalist for Florida Teacher of the Year. He announced that “One of our very own teachers here in District 2, Ms. Katy Jo Harrison, has been named as a top 5 finalist for Florida Teacher of the Year! Katy Jo is Teacher of the Year for the Liberty County District in Bristol, Florida.” Dr. Dunn praised her dedication to public education.
Neal Dunn was born in Boston in 1953 and currently resides in Panama City after graduating from Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
